Inspector Leah Gilfoy has been appointed as the Detachment Commander of Huronia West OPP.
Inspector Gilfoy has been serving as the interim Detachment Commander for the past few months and after a successful selection process was confirmed on March 2, 2022.
Inspector Gilfoy is a proven police leader with over 30 years of combined dedicated service with Toronto Police Service, Orangeville Police Service and the OPP. She is also a former Deputy Chief of Police and a Zone Director for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP). Currently, she is the Chair of the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement (OWLE) Advisory Council and a member of the OPP Sexual Harassment Prevention Project.
Inspector Gilfoy is a Graduate of McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Honours Diploma in Human Resource Management from Humber College, Graduate of the Police Leadership Program at the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Business and Graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy of Police Leadership Program. She has extensive professional development in areas of learning including but not limited to police leadership, police science, investigative and professional courses.
Inspector Gilfoy also has extensive operational, administrative and leadership experience in areas such as uniform, neighbourhood policing, planning, criminal investigations, major crimes, drug investigations, crime management, executive administration, professional standards, duty inspector, staff development and planning and business finance.
