Former Prime Minister John Turner has died.
Born in England, John Napier Wyndham Turner emigrated to Canada in 1932 after the premature death of his father Leonard.
Turner was only 38 years old when he ran for the Liberal leadership in 1968, but lost to Pierre Elliott Trudeau and was dubbed “Canada’s Kennedy”.
Turner became Canada’s 17th PM and governed for just 79 days in the summer of 1984.
Turner died peacefully in his sleep at home in Toronto on Friday night at the age of 91.
