Four season multi-purpose park in the works.

Creemore | by Catherine Thompson
The plan is to turn the site of the former TD bank into public green space.

It's been about a year and a half since the announcement the TD Bank in Creemore would close which upset many in the village.

Now there is a plan to enhance public green space using that property on the main street of Creemore which is Mill Street.

On Monday evening, Clearview Township council voted 6 to 3 to approve, in principle, having staff work with the relatively new Creemore Community Foundation on a redevelopment plan.

The foundation wants to turn the property into a four season multi-purpose park and meeting space with a covered pavilion. The project is called Creemore Village Green.

TD is donating the building and property to the Foundation. The closing for the transfer is to take place before September 1st.

The current plan is to tear down the building.

The foundation plans to raise two million dollars for the project as well as cover annual operating expenses.

The plan is to start construction next Spring with completion of the project in August or September of 2020.

A staff report will come back to council as plans move along.
